March Citizenship Assembly
The kids came up with their own ideas on what it meant to be responsible. They were encouraged to think about possibilities at school, home, and out in the community. We wrote those up and shared them aloud at the assembly. The kids taped them to the ladder representing how as you get older, your responsibility increases. Some of the examples are as follows:
Become involved in community activities (i.e. Boy Scouts) |
Help take care of my pets. |
Help set the table for dinner. |
Include other kids at recess. |
Help a friend when they fall down. |
Clean my room at home. |
Follow directions in class. |
Each class was provided with a set of ladders. They were encouraged to “catch” one another being responsible so we could fill up our responsibility ladder, which sat in the hallway for all to view. After the responsibility ladder, we sang our responsibility song.
