| Music has come to
play an integral role in Price Laboratory School's Elementary Citizenship
Assemblies. It sets a positive tone as the classrooms are entering and
leaving the assemblies.
The elementary music teacher plans ahead to coordinate songs with the particular monthly themes. Strategies frequently used are: composing original songs, re-writing works to familiar or existing tunes (a parody), and finding existing traditional or contemporary published songs. Also, traditional school songs, spirit songs, and patriotic songs often times enhance the PLS Elementary Citizenship Assemblies. All of these approaches have been used effectively. See the examples below. There are many resources available with songs relevant to school citizenship themes. Click on the resource icon for a listing of related music resources. |
