 1. Citizenship

Being a good citizen in your school community makes your school a better place.  Everyone needs to do his or her part.  For a more visual effect, stand on a ladder and drop down different characteristics of a citizen.  Put them on a long piece of paper with an accordion fold or tape construction paper together.

  • Citizen (being a part of a community)
  • Caring (be kind to others)
  • Common Good (think of what’s good for everyone not just yourself)
  • Community (be proud of your school and help others)
  • Clean Up (pick up trash and keep space clean)
  • Committees (join committees like the Student Council)
  • Cash (bring Boxtops and HyVee receipts to school to earn cash)
  • Carnival (help out and participate at the school carnival)

As you introduce each characteristic, drop down the next folded sheet.
