Freedom to Petition

Last month we talked about Freedom to Assemble – sharing your concerns by getting together in a group and letting others know how you feel.  Freedom of Petition is similar to this – you express your concerns in writing and all the people that agree with you sign their name on the petition.  Then the petition is given to the people that are causing the concern or who can solve the concern.  Our 5th grade boys had a concern about the missing stall doors in the boys’ bathroom.  They expressed their concern to the other classes and had the students that agreed sign the petition.  Finally they met with the principal and presented their petition.
